Fuel Filter Dilemma
I changed all the filters in my new '92 today an now the water in fuel light stays on. I drained some off the bottom of the filter, but no good. I've not had that problem before; can you help?

I had the same issue with mine when I first got it ,I replaced the wif sensor on it and havent had an issue since, but I still to this day dont know went on with the old one.The replacement was pretty cheap from dodge.
Personally, I don't mess with them, using the longer Fleetguard FS-1221, instead, which has an integral drain and does not use the WIF sensor.
That being said, I have read many times of the spring, in the bottom of the filter, getting a little out of place, and shorting out the contacts of the sensor.
Remove the sensor and poke your finger up in it's hole in the filter bottom; if the spring is off center, simply push it back in place.
Another solution is to simply un-plug the wires.

The insulation on the two wires coming out of my WIF sensor was worn off toward the top and the two wires were makin contact which made my light stay on after changing my filter took the twoo wires and separated them and put some electrical tape on them and no problems since. I should probably get a new WIF sensor though to be safe.
