Fuel

Ok i know this is illegal but ive been runnin off road diesel in my truck and my smoke is darker and its hazeing more than it does with street diesel. First is this bad for the engine? Also im prepareing for winter and im gettin ready to add some additives to my fuel, most clean injectors, will that reduce my smoke any?

Off road diesel won't hurt your engine but it is expensive if you get caught.

I've been running Stanadyne, they claim it reduces smoke but I can't see a difference.

The off road diesel will not hurt your, although over time it isn't good either. The off road diesel doesn't have soot control and contains a higher sulfer content, over time soot accumulates and causes more smoke. The injectors have a hard time maintaining efficiently. Run cleaners more frequent through the fuel and it will be OK.

I used to mix a 1/2 quart of transmission fluid to a tank of fuel to keep soot, carbon, and sulfer gone. Works even better in gassers (mechanic in a can).

I usually bite the bullet and fill up with a tank of street diesel every so often but with it runnin as high as gas i cant afford to go fill up either way it prolly be cheaper to run fuel add. through than to get pump diesel

Be careful!!! I have pulled over and my dad by the DOT and checked for illegal fuel. A $5,000.00 fine is charged if illegal fuel is present.

Duhhh, you ought to think about that before readily admitting on a public forum about using red fuel.

Well when diesel cost as much or more than gas what do you expect. I bought a diesel to get away from 2 dollar a gallon prices. and besides its much more convenit to pull out by the pumps and drop a couple gallons in before school

I have never heard of anyone around here ( CT) getting checked for fuel color in a non commercial vehicle.

Will Automatic tranny fluid clean out your injectors, and pump without hurting the engine? Is this a good idea every once in awhile even if you arn't running off-road diesel?

thanks jeff
