Front Leaf Spring Replacement

So my front springs are finally sagging to the point that its unbearable. I have begun the search to either re-arch them, replace them, or just crutch them with an add-a-leaf kit. I dont really want to add much of a lift to the front end, just get it back to stock or maybe an inch or so of lift. What are your suggestions? thanks in advance!

I was in this situation about 5 years ago. At first, I did a simple add-a-leaf install because it was cheap and fast to do. The ride was horrible because the extra leaf forces the pack into an arch. I put up with it for about 8 months. Currently, I have a 2" Skyjacker diesel front spring lift. It's level and the ride is much better. Some will argue about sagging. I have not had a problem and I don't haul anything. A spring shop can do wonders too. That would probably have been my other option but the Skyjacker springs worked for me. I have a friend at 4 Wheel Parts who got me a great deal and I did the swap pretty quick in the driveway.

Aloha~

Oddly, the dealer was the cheapest for me. Re-arching at the spring shop was just as expensive as new after market ones.

If you have them re-arced make sure they add a leaf under the top leaf all the way out to the end to give it support.
I will try and get a photo for you to see. The stock leaf pack leave the top leaf un supported..

The front leafs I just replaced for about $350. They are part # 34-800. do a search on Google and you will find a place like the one I used like this... http://www.autoandtrucksprings.com/c...ings-36-1.html . There is a HD model too.

I went with the Skyjacker 1" leveling springs on my 1992 and loved it. The ride was so bad with the original stock springs that you'd need 6 months' physical therapy after hitting a moderate bump.

I can't say much about the difficulty of install on the Skyjackers because I had a local 4x4 shop do the work.

Those springs look pretty good and a decent price. If you are considering the HD springs, for about the same money, ($500) a pair, Alcan spring is the best. They want to know what you have added or changed on the truck, they will make a custom leaf spring for your truck, they build for the best ride possible while still retaining or improving your weight capacity, available stock height or any amount of lift you choose.
