The 47RH will be better the RE is electronic and needs a computer to control it the RH has a hydraulic governor that controls it.

V10 going to have different govener weights in the tailshaft housing...

Diesel 47RH which is a lockup 518(618) trans.
Drain the torque converter into a clean pan and then put the trans on end. R&R the pan before purchase to make sure it's not filled with metal flakes.

I didn't and got burnt. The junkyard found a replacement which has been rebuilt in the last 2 years. So all turned out well.

Make sure the pigtail on the transmission comes with it. The dipstick tube would be good, but almost always gone. Flexiplate off the engine .. 1st gens are weaker.

Going to try and put mine in this weekend!!!

It would be easier to take the front section of the trans and use your overdrive section to make a 47RH, unless you're going to run a manual valvebody. To make a RE into a RH you have to you have to change the OD piston retainer to the old style or replace with an aftermarket one so the govenor tubes can connect and feed to the valve body. The only thing you'll need is the engine adaptor plate, starter, flexplate, and a 47RH valvebody with connector.

47RE's don't have govenor weights so, the V10 and diesel 47RE's are basically the same. A true statement when talking about a 47RH.
