Front end rebuild, where to get QUALITY parts
OK, im chewing up my front tires, n have a little play in the steering. I know I need an idler arm, but for the low low Advance auto parts of 160 for a Moog idler,(which 50-80 bucks more then the others advertised) i have sticker shock at the moment.
How long does a typical front end rebuild last in our trucks (2 wheel drive)?
If/when I go through it, I only want to do it once and be done. So obviously I'll pay a little more then the typical joe that walks through the doors at a parts store.
I like Moog, cause they have built up a reputation, but anyone else something different thats a good lasting quality part?
I am going to do from Ball joints to the idler arm. Thanks guys!

Yeah, ain't that price a shocker?? I have always used NAPA parts in the past, mainly because they really were Moog also. But when I recently did my idler(2wd also), my local NAPA guru said they have switched to another vendor, and I can't recall their name just now(think it was National something...). But he believes they are equal to, if not better than Moog. I've known this guy over 30yrs w/NAPA and he DOES know his stuff, so I trust him. Besides, he gives me almost 50% discount, the idler was only $60. :-) Far as durable, I think if you grease it regularly(every 3 to 5,000mi) and don't submerge it or drive lotsa dusty roads, I think they will last a very very long time(as in you shouldn't need to replace it again). But even so, Moog and this other supplier carry a lifetime warranty thru NAPA. Good luck to you, shop around a bit and see if you can score that idler a little cheaper! PS - NAPAonline.com shows part #NCP 2683538 is the best quality and lists for $110.00 PS-PS Just remembered!! National Chassis Parts(which accounts for the 'NCP' in the part number...
well, i was gonna tell you to go to the mopar dealer and order part#3496507. list price $139.00, but unfortunatly its ns1 (discontinued). you may want to at least check the pricing on some of your parts from the dealer.

Good deal. I try to use Napa, or take advantage of special ordering through Advance or Auto Zone. I'll most likely get ahold of my grandfather, he has a shop/dealer discount at a local Napa. hehehehe, maybe take advantage of the lift too.
I immagine by what ya said the idler, and misc. other parts Via Napa (NCP) have grease fittings?
Just pulled the right front to swap a wheel with a better tire n found im headed for a new tie rod end too. Boot is all split and draining grease.
