Freeze plug or block heater? Either way it's not that bad a job.

That's one of the heater lines up there on the manifold. They rust out from the inside if the coolant is neglected. Sounds like the freeze plug did the same thing. Just get the parts, remove and replace.

I had the same expansion plug leak. To replace it I removed the turbo and air box. This was dome to access the plug and allowing room to swing a small sledge. I got the new expansion plugs from dodge, were $3.00 a piece. Once the antifreeze is drained you can knock out the plug with a punch. Place the punch on top or bottom so it cantilevers when hit. The pull it out with pliers. The hard pat is pounding the new plug in evenly. I knocked it into the water jacket twice. Not hard to fish out. I ended up making a jig so it only will go in as far as the other plugs. The jig I made has a lip which will stop at the engine block. The rest of the jig forces the plus at the proper depth into the block. You can buy a freeze plug installer from some machine shops or online.
The large socket method to install the plug is a pain and provided little control. Make sure you use permatex #2 sealer on the outside of the freeze plug upon installing it. I would also order the oil return gasket for the turbo other wise you might have oil leak problems. Good luck

i got the old one out without takin anything off but now for the new one, if i get a copper one im goan have to remove a bunch of junk to tap it in, or my other option is a rubber expanding plug, my buddys has 1 in everyone of his trucks says they work just as well, what do u guys think?

Cody i think your best bet is just taking all that stuff out and pressing in a new freeze plug since we could not find the right size rubber expansion plug it is alot more work but i will press it in for you.
