I agree with these guys. It could end up being a never ending project that you spend all your time (and money) working on and never get to drive. Trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear never works.

My son buys semi tractors and tankers where he can get a good deal and fixes them up for work on the oil fields near Williston. He bought one in Minnesots (saltville, I think). Every once in awhile I hear a thumping sound from about 600 miles West of here. I found out it's Sam kicking himself as he's trying to do some simple suspension or exhaust work on it.

this is my sons truck we paid $3500 for it too also bought and sold a 92 club cab w350 in great shape for $4000 ,like I said there out there .
and Mark mentioned doing a road trip with your son , what a better way to make a memory with him and not a night mare of the truck from rust hell.
Rebal has it right forget the rust bomb from he ll you would have a much better experience going for a ride or a flight to get a good one. For my 99 i went to texas and the 96 came from nevada both great clean 1 owner trucks.

I have never regretted doing it and even adding in the plane fare and fuel costs saved a little money on what could have been bought near home.

The priceless part is not having to get out the blue tip wrench every time you need to work on one

Rebal send me a pm next time you find a deal on one like your sons or a second gen regular cab both would have to be 4x4 and i will come out to visit you. A v-10 truck i could buy real cheap to convert when i got home would work as well. I like road trips and seeing other parts of the country and meeting fellow members. Airports and being stuck in a plane not so much
