Frame Rot

On the drivers side along the fuel tank my frame is getting pretty bad and I'd like to cut out the rusted part an weld in a new section of metal. The only parts that has rust is the bottom lip of the Chanel, the vertical part an the top lip is fine. To fix the problem I would have to cut about 3ft long section of the bottom lip off all the way to were the metal turns an goes vertical. I've always heard that welding on frames is tricky an certain ones u can weld at all, I was just wondering if u guys suggest that I do this an if so do u guys have any tips or if I should start looking for a rot free frame. I wouldn't consider myself a pro at welding but I'm pretty dang good so I'm sure that won't be a problem. Not trying to toot my own horn

I welded mine there. I replaced the bad section by the tank and then ran another layer over the entire bottom of the frame from the seat area all the way to the rear bumper on both sides. I also plated the frame on both sides from the same area under the cab to the rear of the truck. I took all the spring, cab, and bed mounts off to do it. I then redrilled all the holes for the new spring hangers and the bed/cab mounts.

That's pic is giving me ideals, that looks sweet. Sometime in the near future when they drop are hours back to normal at work (not much time for anything working over 60 hours a week for 5 months) i'll be doing a body swap an i might just do that to my frame.

Thanks for the help guys
