it might be easier to buy a 4 to 5" tip that will just weld onto your 4" exhaust. $20 summit brand. i have one sitting here in got for $5...and its stainless not chrome

Looks good!

just letting you know that if you start adding fuel (pump tweaks) and you have the pipe right there your back wheel will turn black after a few days if you. you could just bring the pipe out farther and you'd be fine.

i say go for it. What you got planned for an exhaust? 4" turbo back?

overkill really. 5" aint necessary until like 400HP man. i don't even think a 5" downpipe would fit on a 1st gen, a 4" dp barely fits. lol

4" will be a tight fit. here are a couple pics for reference. keep in mind that i have an nv5600 tranny on a 2wd truck and i had to dimple the down pipe as you'll see in the second pic.

i don't know of any aftermarket places that make a 5" dp for 1st gens. I may have seen a couple 5" dp's on trucks but can't recall where and i'm sure they were pieced together. looking at mine, i could've shortened the dp and ran it inside the frame rail giving me a bit more room. maybe consider that if you can find someone to build you a 5".

4" right here- already has the 3" flange so it'll hook right up to a stock turbo. http://www.sourceautomotive.biz/inde...mart&Itemid=26

I have a 2nd gen 4" downpipe on my truck, I barely got it to fit, it was tight!!! But I have the hy35 turbo with the turndown exhaust outlet like on the newer cummins, its not the V-band clamp style. Its pretty much right up against the firewall. I had to bend the transmission oil dipstick a little bit but i got it to fit! and the best part was I got it for $10! I'm pretty happy with it right now. 4" sure sounds a lot better than 3"!!! I was thinkin I could maybe get a 5" downpipe and 5" around the transfer case to fit in there if i built one but it would be dang tight. I think It would maybe fit though. or atleast a 4 1/2"...
