Fluid dampr ?'s
Ok, I have narrowed down my vibrations and belt problem to my stock balancer being out of round. I have a fluid dampr sitting on the floor ready to go, but have found out that the fan hits it. I read that a second gen fan clutch will solve this by spacing the fan further forward. Do I need a second gen fan as well or will the first gen fan bolt to the newer clutch? Trying to find hard facts on what to do before I drop more coin. Thanks guys!!

Ok, since it would appear not too many guys have fluid dampr's I will post up what I have found and the results of my install. I had read a 2nd gen fan clutch is a little longer than the 1st gen fan clutch. In my searching for a new fan clutch I found out that the first and second gen clutches are listed as the same part number. Got this answer from my local parts guy and my friend at the dealer. The factory one may be slightly shorter than these, but the ones available now are all the same and have been for some time. I had replaced my fan clutch about a year ago after an accident pushed the clutch and fan into the radiator. So I already had a new clutch and the fan clears the fluid dampr by about 3/16. I no longer have my old factory fan clutch so I can't say for certain if a fluid dampr will fit with the stock fan clutch or not. Also, the sensor relocation bracket they sent with the fluid dampr needs the holes hogged out a bit to get the sensor in the right spot. After I got it all together I fired it up and took it for a drive. At idle the getrag rattle is almost gone, just a little hint of it. The center plate rattle in the dual disc clutch when disengaged is half as noisy as it was before. Still hear the clutch outside the truck, but inside it is barely audible. As for any other rpm, there is no comparison. The entire rpm band is MUCH smoother. It totally changed the sound of the engine as well. It sounds so smooth now. I took it up to 3100 rpm and the difference is amazing. In my opinion it was well worth the money.

I run the Fluidampr on my '93 as well.
- I put a 1/8" washer between the fan hub and the clutch to make the fan clear the face of the damper.
- I didn't have any issues with the crankshaft position sensor bracket.
As mentioned above, the engine is decidedly smoother/quieter throughout the RPM.

I got mine for $429 shipped with the sensor bracket. BC that's interesting that the sensor relocation bracket fit yours fine. I didn't have to hog the the holes out much, maybe 1/8 on both holes. Took 10 minutes of searching for my right angle grinder and about 10 seconds to carve the holes out with the carbide bit. Also BC, do you still have your factory fan clutch or has it been replaced at some point? Another thing, I did not use their wire harness extender setup, I just rerouted the factory wires to the new location down the drivers side of the front cover with the factory wire holders under a couple cover bolts. Works nicely and no mods to the wires.
