I have one also.
The funny thing is after I installed it, I never fired it up until the next day to go to work.
I remember backing out of the driveway and thinking something feels different. While thinking about it I thought to myself it sure does feel smoother for some reason then, DOH............the light went off in my head and I remembered installing it the day before.
It is smoother through all rpms.

They do you just have to relocate the pickup to the side with the kit they sell. I didn't have to splice the wire like they say you can just re-rout it.

Did you have any issues with the engine cooling fan touching the Fluidampnr? I had to move my heap's fan (and clutch) forward 1/8" to stop the blades from "kissing" the front of the damper.
Just as you, I to didn't have to extend the pickup cable. Just reroute it.

My fan did hit the damper also. I think you might be able to put a large washer or two into the hub to sort of space it away.
I just bought a new fan clutch from Napa for a 2nd gen which barely clears.
Wish I had not. This new one is engaged nearly all the time.

fan on my 2nd gen cleared by about 1/2". The fan hub sticks out about 1/2" or better than the 1st gen, belt runs in the same place but the fan hub is longer. I had to put a new fan clutch on yesterday morning, it sounded like I had a hand full of BB's in the oil pan. Just glad it stayed on for the drive to town.
