Anyone running one of these on a 1st gen, worth the $$$?

It may be hard to tell the diff on the vid but its night and day when you drive it. Pluss my stock one was about to fly apart.

HAMMER_DOWN 01-01-2008 11:59 PM

It definitely sounds smoother with it on

1stGen545 01-02-2008 12:17 AM

Yup! It was me, I saw it in Diesel World probably the same place HAMMER_DOWN saw it.

Here is the link:

Hope that helps!

The only fluid dampr i have seen for 12v is for 91.5+ but what about us that have an earlier version?

I hadn't seen that at all, a friend was talking about getting one for his '98 24 valve and that got me interested in getting one for mine

What kind of symptoms were you having? I think I may have a problem with mine. I get a real bad vibration at idle sometimes and it's not an injector/fuel problem.

BC847 01-02-2008 05:56 PM

I run a Fluidampnr and find it worthwhile albeit expensive. Definitely smooths things at idle as well as wound up.

The Fluidampnr type is a stock/OEM item on certain industrial applications as well as the marine engine. :)

marksmith 01-02-2008 06:44 PM

Are ALL marine applications using the fluid damper???

NoSparkplugs 01-02-2008 07:47 PM

Just curious, what does a stock Cummins dampner cost versus a Fluiddampner? I think I'm going to get one after I purchase my DDP Stage IVs

1stGen545 01-02-2008 09:17 PM

The rubber ring was about to fall out of the front and had large chunks missing on the rear. The alignment marks on the 2 halves had slipped just a little.

mhuppertz 01-03-2008 11:56 AM

I want one! They are standard issue on racing vehicles.

1stGen545 01-03-2008 08:13 PM

here is why I pulled the stock one. You tell me how you would feel with this doing 4000 rpm
