Welcome to the fray. A couple of suggestions.
1. Don't hijack threads, especially old ones in the FAQ.
2. The search engine is your friend, especially if you used the advanced version and narrow down your search.

This thread is less than one week old.

Since this is the odometer gear thread...did this fix today.

Kerry of laspeedometergear.com sent me up the small & large gear for $25 shipped.

The larger gear is part of the disc, and both Delrin gears are graphite impegnated.

There was no sticking, filing etc - the gears spin smoother than a tomcat pi$$ing on velvet.

Ok, I just picked up another instrument cluster and the trip and speedo don't work in that either. My speedo in both works though. Before I tear one of them apart I'm wondering if it could be something besides the gears ?

Only one way to find out - disassemble it & check the gears for broken teeth.

Threads a bit old now. Tried this fix yesterday. While trying to get to the gear I accidentally unplugged the little black wire that goes to the trip odometer. Figured that wouldn't cause a majour issue, put it all back, now my guage lights wont work, my indicators are semi visible, turning on my hazards turns on my "door open" buzz, and using my left turn signal shows my dash indecator to the right.

Anyone know *** I did?

I would start with plugging the little black wire back in.

I always tell myself - When I work on something and I am done, if it does not work the same....it is something I did.

Yeah thats the main thing i figure i just dont know how id get it, its 1 of those 2 that attached the motor to the actual odometeres so to functionally access it id need to disconnect the trip reset button and that metal rod seems sketchy to remove

Well if It goes terrible wrong when you work on it next. It is a comfort to know I have dozens of 1st gen complete gauge clusters in my shop, I would sell.
