Fix your leaking, whistling door
I re-read through this and installed new inner and outer belt-weatherstrips on the doors of the wife's truck.
The old were harder to remove than the new were to install.
I got a 4-piece kit from J.C.Whitney, Precision brand, made in USA, sixty-bucks plus shipping.
They fit and installed as good or better than the originals.
The rest of the weatherstripping was in great shape; But, the belt-strips were deteriorating and had some bare metal against the glass.
Old worn-out belt-weatherstrips are what cause the vertical scratches evident on a lot of older vehicles; the glass gets rubbed against the rusty bare metal, as the window goes up and down.
The nosy neighbor, framed in this shot, seems awfully interested in the goings on over to your place.
He could spend a little more time painting and less time staring out the window, if you ask me.

<Most peculiar.
That's the old pack-house behind Granny's house next door (She passed over ten years ago). It's been out of use for many years now.
There's not suppose to be anybody in there.
. . . . .

talk about a resurrection!! this thread is old!!
i love this thread david! i have been wanting to replace all of my weather seals on my truck. i ordered the kit from jc whitney last week. it arrived here on tuesday. i spent about 5 hours on the truck today. this write up sure helped a lot! it took a few tries to get some of the channel seals in. i worked with some average household hand soap and would lather up the backside of the seal and some of the seal track if i could reach it. they were in, out, in and back out again a few times before they made it all the way in. to make a long story short, i'm glad i had this write up to follow for some guidance. i just hope i never have to do these again for another 20 years
. thanks david!!!!
. thanks david!!!!
Thanks for the p/n, I ordered my kit today. Couldn't find it with normal JCW search but your p/n went right to it. I should have it this time next week.
Many thanks BC847 for all the tips and the JC Whitney P/N, .... I still can't find it on that site with a search by veh type etc, ...just individual parts but not the kit. Anyhow I just got done my drivers door and, after sustaining multiple lacerations and contusions exploring all the wrong ways of getting the repaired window back in, the weather stripping part went well using your tips of 1) lots of soapy water, and 2) noticing which end of each part is which BEFORE snapping pieces into slots. Mine has power windows so it was risky business using the incredibly powerful motor to mash my fingers, mostly getting the window regulator wheels into the slots. The passenger side is in better shape and the window probably won't need to come out, so with rereading this sticky and my hard-earned experience of today it should be an easier and less painful job. Where have I heard that one before?

i found an easy way to get these pins or clips into their respective holes fairly easily. i used a pair of needle-nose pliers and squeeze them to make them slightly narrower. when it came time to put the upper seal in, i used a punch with about a 1/2" tip on it to press them into the holes. i did tear through the rubber just a bit
but i don't care. i was frustrated with it by then and was happy to FINALLY have it in
where can you buy the aluminum kick plate? i think he called it the door thresh hold plate. can you buy custom ones or something? ive never had them in mine but they wouldbring a really nice finich to my old girl.
I have found http://www.dodgeconnection.com/DodgeConnectionHome.html sells the door seals for our trucks.
I tried looking a couple of months ago and couldn't come across it either. They don't sell the "kit" anymore, but you can still buy everything individually from JCWhitney.
