First Gen Fuel Mileage Thread
Guys-
I did some searching and didn't find any threads regarding fuel mileage in all's respective trucks. Yes I know it varies when you tow. I'm just interested in mileage, specifically in trucks with auto trannies.
Post away!!!
Also the diesels come with 22 or 30 gallon tanks stock?

Well I've only gone through a couple tanks on the crew, but first tank was 648.8 miles on 25.2 gallons, so about 25.75 mpg!! Now my speedo is off by about 10%, so subtract that it is probably close to 22-23mpg.
This is on a bone stock 89 CTD, with a leaky lift and VE pump.

maninblack2k, the numbers folks have listed probably wouldn't change too much with a fuel pin as the biggest factor in mpg's, apart from the obvious aerodynamics/weight/load, is the right foot... actually, having a Denny T, (or other) fuel pin would have an affect, it'd be hard NOT to put your foot in it every time you launched!
Take a look at my sig regarding the DennyT fuel pin. I was one of the early buyers of Dennys fuel pin. The greatest threat to your mileage is the person behind the wheel and the right foot on that driver. I've got more than enough power when I want it - as more than a few have found out and still get great mileage from a truck that can pull half of a city block,

I have been getting 17-18 around town. I have gotten a best of 26 on the highway running a wmo mix. I cant wait to see what I can get around town with the new converter but i cannot seem to keep my foot out of it.
My best since the trans upgrades is 15.

Not saying I'm one of those drivers Bob Beauchaine was talking about but ...
Ever since I had my 1st VW Beetle with a Porsche 356 engine in it I've had somewhat of a heavy right foot - but that aside I get 15.5 - 16 city and over 20 hiway ( depending on how much of a hurry I'm in ) .

I think my truck averages about 18-19 combined. Interstate driving it will get 19 easily, in the city it'll drop to 14 to 16. Driving back roads and keeping speeds around 55-65 I've gotten 21.5 out of her. The biggest factor is whether I can keep my right foot from asserting too much pressure on the smoke pedal (this is doubly hard in town with the yuppies in their Mercedes or the brothers with their stereos turned way too loud.)
Fuel mileage seemed to actually increase slightly with the DennyT pin from what I could tell. But I lost all my data when my hard drive crashed so I can't back that up.

I didn't change my driving habits either.
