First Fill Up MPG

Well I took a look on the MSN gas price finder and found the deal in the neighborhood. Took on 23.879 gallons. The low fuel light would come on and off. drove it 449.1 miles over the past 2 weeks mainly city with some hwy speed bursts on the tollway when not sitting in traffic. That leaves me with 18.8 mpg. I got into it from time to time but didn't have that heavy of a foot. The truck has 3.08 gears. Its a 93 club cab 4x4 5spd. Do you all think i did ok? That was right about what i expected on the MPG around the city. I'm doing a trip on the hwy tomorrow so we shall see what that yields. I'm looking for around 22mpg on the hwy. Its pretty easy to keep it under 2 grand with the gears in it. I'm turning 1700 at 70 mph. Any mods to help out with the MPG? I'm actually happy with it but the more the better.

18.8 with a 4x4 seems really good to me.

With my dually I get between 18.7-19 with mixed driving. So you're OK.

You sure it has 3.08's?

18.8 mpg is pretty good for mostly city driving.

The guy i got it from said that and the sticker under the hood says 3.0 for the gear ratio. Was the 3.08 an option for those?

Not according to the books. Got a clear pic of that sticker, I'd love to see it!

I've never seen a 93 with any other than 3.55 or 4.10. It will also say right on the axle tags, if they're still there.

I went out and checked the axles out tonight. The tag has 3.0 axle ratio on it, code is DMM or OMM(hard to read). Its got a dana 70 rear Code ORE. Limited slip rear OSA. 4500 # front axle. and 12x2.5 rear brakes. I went under and didn't find a tag on the front axle but did find one of the rear cover. said 3.07 on it. The guy I got it from told me this was a really uncommon and it was special order. I did noticed in the owners manual it didn't get a towing limit for the this rearend ratio? I tried to get some pics but the darkness didn't let them turn out readable.

You realize that there are 500 guys in north america who dream about a setup like this everyday. I'm interested in your interstate highway mileage. Especially if you drive around 68-70 mph.

Ditto. 1700 rpm at highway speeds . . . If you mod your truck right, you should be able to get at least 22 on the highway!!

I'll have to check my milage again this summer. But that last time I checked I was getting 18 average(mostly hwy) with mine on summer fuel. I'm not sure what it is on winter fuel. I leave the plow on all winter so I bet it drops quit a bit. I'd love to have O/D or a 5 gear.
