finally got pump back together, no afc lever!

Well after two weeks of looking and waiting for a new "top hat" part that i lost while tearing my pump apart, I finally got the part today and put my pump back together without the afc lever. Oh its so nice to have my truck back. its been a very long two weeks!!! well I'm just happy it runs! I was worried i would forget something or have something happen over that long of a time all torn apart. Without the afc lever, this thing smokes like crazy!!! I didn't seem to do much power increase, maybe 1 or 2 lbs of boost if that. I am wonderin if i have a boost leak...? I'm runnin between 24 and 26 lbs tops. It sure does smoke though, but i can control it with my foot. I am gettin hotter a little faster than i was before, i did have egt problems before, but I'm surprised that it isn't gettting hotter faster. I thought it would get insanely hot. I do have a small fuel leak at the moment though. i can't tell exactly where its comin from. its toward the back of the pump. I thought it was the fuel line comin in so I tightened it some more. It is just a small leak, I will watch it closely and maybe it will seal up.

boost is about right for stock i/c injectors. i tried severall afc mods but found best acceleration with afc working. i ground lever foot a little and ground fuel pin. grind your foot alittle keeping stock shape, put it back in, grind your own fuel pin or buy one from someone on here, get some real injectors. then you can look for a better turbo. get pushing 35-40 psi boost and keep it cool then you,ll be making some power. then you can build that trans. or do that first ! i do think at this elevation you,ll run quiker with proper afc set-up. the trucks ive set-up have. lower alttitude guys can get away with lever out a little better.

yeah I plan on getting a bigger turbo and some bigger injectors later on. I know a guy in my town that has an hx35 he wants to sell, so i might see how cheap i can get that. I wanted an hx40, but its out of the price range right now. I think I'm gonna build my trans up before I get injectors though.

oh yes! it has been great! I was just crossin my fingers when I went to first start it up after i primed it with the lift pump, and it started right up and man, it just sounded so good echoing in the shop, it had been so long. It is nice to drive a vehicle again that has some power! oh and i think I will leave this afc lever out for ahwile and see how i like it. I like it right now. I just don't plan on tearin my pump apart again for a while!!!
