Factory Cd player

I am looking to replace my factory tape deck in my truck. I would like to find an infininity cd player out of another chrysler product. I am told most of them will plug right in and the holes should fit. Is this true? If so, does anyone have one for sale?

Re:Factory Cd player

I have a tape deck out of a 96 if I remember right. It did fit perfectly. Plugged right in same mounting holes everything. So if you can find a cd player it should work.

I got the Jensen from Autozone with the flip-face. Dodge installation kit too. Looks like it was made for the truck. Head unit light colors match the dash lights nicely.

Re:Factory Cd player

anything till 2001 will fit right in, with the mounting tabs cut off. but the electrical interface for all radios in chyrsler (and diamond star) vechicles is the same for about 20 yrs (one black and one gray plug)

Re:Factory Cd player

different shaped unit for 2002 (2001 in some of the cars). I haven't seen one apart, so I can't speak to whether they still use the same plugs. I was just sayin what I knew for sure would work.

Re:Factory Cd player

You have to be careful with the wiring for the infinity systems.. I have been told by a wrecking yard in Calgary(have not confirmed) that the speaker wiring for the Infinity stereos have amps built into the speaker wiring and that you can't just jump from a normal tape deck to an Infinity stereo without adding some sort of amplifier.

Anyone know this for sure, cuz I would like to do the same..

J-eh

Re:Factory Cd player

I put an infinity cd player in my truck, worked just fine. I only buy the infinity stuff for the swaps, never the cheaper chyrsler badged stuff.

Re:Factory Cd player

When my factory radio started doing freaky things, I bought a Pioneer CD. With the wiring kits and bezel adapters they have now, it's nice and easy. Next is speakers. Always something. :

Re:Factory Cd player

Do you know what vehicle your Infinity was out of? Do all the infinity’s have a 5 channel EQ or did some come without?

Re:Factory Cd player

Mine is not an Infinity, but it came out of a 94 Intrepid ES. Mid-line unit, bolted right in. Took about 20 minutes from start to finish. Seems to me that in the infinity sytem, each speaker is amped seperatly. So you would need all 6 spealers as well with their amps. Not absolutely sure, but pretty sure. [undecided] Rick

Re:Factory Cd player

nope, 4 spks is just fine. The cd only units have 5 band, the cd/tape combos have 3 band. I've got the cd player and 2 sets of 6x9's out of avengers in my truck, works real nice. I would look for inifinity stuff in sebrings/avengers, that's where I get mine

Re:Factory Cd player

Is there an amp for each speaker? Where is the amp, On the speaker or in the wire?

Re:Factory Cd player

I didn't add an amp. The factory inifinity setups do have an amp in the trunk, but the head unit itself seems to be powerful enuf. I did buy the trunk amp with everything, but I have never investigated how I'd wire it into the system.
