Factory 1st Gen Service Manuals??

Where can a guy find a factory or comparable service manual for the First Gen with the diesel. I am looking to by one ant find one on the net anywhere, havent tried the dodge dealer yet. I know hayes and chilton might have something, but a factory service manual seems to be much more in depth. Any info would be appreciated. thanks.

Take if from me, Do NOT waste your money on Haynes/Chilton manuals for this truck! I did when I was rebuilding my front end, and basically all the Haynes did for me was tell me how to change the oil and brakes!

The FSM has a plethora of info in it. Theres not a nut, bolt, relay, switch, fuse, lube point, torque value, tolerance that I have looked for that was NOT in the FSM.

I got mine from www.books4cars.com I think I paid about $75 ish for it. The title of my FSM reads like this. 1992 Publications Service Manual D&W 150-350 Ramcharger Rear Wheel Drive Truck. I was a little leary that the Diesel wasn't covered, But it's like Prego baby, It's in there!

If you plan on wrenching on your truck yourself I HIGHLY reccomend the FSM!

Good luck!

I got mine two years ago direct from chrysler, they still had them available through a parts search then anyway.

Thing is several inches thick.

The 93 version has the Getrag rebuild section. That alone is worth it if you have a 5speed. I know several shops that cant rebuild the Getrag properly. I have done 3 with no ill effects I am aware of.

So even though my truck is a 92, i should get the 93 manual for the getrag rebuild section.

I second not getting Haynes/Chilton manuals! I had to figure out the LONG way of trying to get my hubs off! I also have one of each for my 90 f150, they both have different procedures to get the same parts off at times.

When I tried to get to my front rotors the Chilton Manuals said "refer to the hub removal section." So I go to the hub section and it says to refer to the hubs manual! I got fed up with it and threw it into a bucket of oil! Called a friend who used to be a mechanic, and he walked me through it. I wont spend another dollar on one unless if I have to. Ok off my

After flipping through mine (for my 92) it has 46 pages dedicated to the NV 4500 (gasser tranny) which encompasses TOTAL troubleshooting, rebuild, and reinstallation.

Here it comes

BUT! only 6 pages dedicated to the Getrag 360. And they only cover basic maintenance, and removal and reinstallation of the transmission itself. Absolutely NO mention of overhaul is listed in my FSM. So I would say it's a safe bet you might be better off with the 93 FSM.

Good Luck!

'92 and '93 wiring is the same. If you have a '92 and a Getrag, get the '93 FSM.
