Engine stutter, miss

I got to start my new engine tonight after being put together and when i free rev the enigne with no load on it. it stutters or misses and struggles to gain rpm's but then i will gain quickly and still ruin rough. it idles perfect though. I have the pods and old smokey fuel pin. I didnt adjust the pump...yet. Any ideas why it does this. are the pods not getting enough fuel? its the 92 motor mad non-ic Thanks

My first guess would be a fuel supply problem. Air leak in the pick-up, clogged filter, bad lift pump. Are you getting white or greyish smoke?

Anybody have any ideas? I checked all my lines for leaks and there are none. I am clueless on what it could be.

Either still air in the high pressure lines or there's not enough timing for the POD's.

I have the pump as far to the head as possible. If there is air in the lines wouldnt it also run rough at idle?

Tonight a took out all the injectors and cleaned them and put them back in. then i rebled all lines. it got alittle better but still misses at mid to high rpms. at an idle i cracked each injector individually and them all get fule to them and they make the engine run rough when each one is cracked. So i am taking that as they are still working. Any ideas?

Said it before, timing piston stuck in advance position. Time to tear apart the pump.

How difficult is it to fix the KSB on the pump?

bgilbert. Since i dont have a wiring harness for this engine... guy i bought it from said everything was there and there was no chassis or engine harness. I jumped the KSB and it made it run alot smoother at mid to high rpms. It still misses very little.

Well, if jumping the KSB made a difference, then the timing piston must be doing something. Maybe the pump gear is retarded a tooth---has it even been removed (pump gear)?

i wount worry about the ip if you did the 1/2 lines, you have an air leak some were, it wil idle ruff, and run kind of crappy, if i go below 1/2 a tank of fuel it will do the same thing, just to busy to fix it, its probaly around the pick up part in the tank

It idles fine though. only mid to high rpms. but jumping the KSb made a big differecne but it is till a little rough. I did 3/8 lines agina but put a holley electric pump on instead. The pump wasnt taken off at all.
