I'd be a bit concerned that you may have more wear in places than a stock set of rings and inserts will handle. Tear it down first and mic everything to see if you can get away with stock stuff. If so then buy it and hone your cylinders and go. Watch out for an excessive ridge at the top of the cylinders though. It can cause the new rings to bind and break the pistons.

Also be mindful of head warpage. I don't know about the Cummins but the V-8's I've worked on had a real problem there especially if the engine has ever been overheated.

I have heard though that the Cummins cylinders wear very slowly though and some high mileage engines still have the crosshatch showing in the cyl walls. Be extra mindful of the main and rod journals. Check the rods for egg shaped wear also.

The old guys used to get tapered shims for the bearings to take up the slack and reuse the inserts.
