So where is the best place to get an engine oil cooler?

I can get an oem cummins from the local distributor for ~$300 plus shipping because they don't stock it.

Or I can get an after market unit from an on line distributor for ~$140.

Does anyone have any input on the after market unit? Are they any good or is it going to fail in a few thousand miles?

The aftermarket brand is unknown, it is from "diesel specialists". I would just assume get the cummins brand, but at 2x the cost is it worth the piece of mind?

 

well I went on ebay and found some new surplus coolers that are OEM cummins for 1/3 the price at a distributor.

 

Interesting. Have a part number for the Cummins piece?

 

The part number from Cummins is: 3957544.

Also I tried the case dealer and they are back-ordered there and ~$482.
