What makes you think you need one (PCM)?

you can manually engage overdrive by grounding the solenoid through the use of a toggle switch. sure beats buying a new PCM. my truck has a switched overdrive

Check and see if your truck is charging. I had the same problem and it turned out to be the Crank Sensor. My sensor was shorting out and during the times of no juice the truck would not shift into 4th. I was told that I also needed a new PCM, I put one in and still had the problem. I tried bypassing the internal voltage regulator with an external one and did it wrong causing an electrical meltdown. So I had to put in another PCM, still had the problem, I put in a new Crank sensor, which fixed the problem. I was gun shy about trying another external VR, but after getting some info I think it would work. Look up the info in the sticky's and make sure you disconnect the little black box from the back of the alternator.
