electrical problem

electrical problem

truck starts just fine but occasionally my a/c quits working and windows wont go down. if anyone knows cause and way around please let me know. also had some smoke come out of steering column earlier when i tried to start like its not getting enough juice to run it or something

If you have a tilt wheel the wiring harness coming up the column is too short on most of our trucks and it will stretch the wires going into the ign switch causing a poor connection. Thats the cause of the heat. Eventually the connection is lost altogether. Mine let go about 200 miles from home and the truck wouldnt start. Luckly I have a remote starter and got her going that way.
