Electrical/Fuseable Link Issues

Today my 91 Dodge died on meand will not turn over. When I did some checking I found one of the fusable links by was blown. It was one of the orange 20ga links that feeds the ignition switch. I replaced the link but as soon as I tried to start it the new link blew too. I havent found any shorts in the circuit. I also checked the ignition switch and had 30-60 ohms accross the switch. Is this too high?? Could this be causing my link to blow?? ANy other ideas?? Thanks for any help.

Check your positive battery cable real good as if it has too high resistance from a bad or corroded connection it may cause this problem.

When I switched injector pumps, the new pump had a bad solenoid on it and fried the same link. You might try unplugging the shutdown solenoid and see if it still fries the link.

I think you need to pull out the old wiring diagram and follow where that little 20g wire runs and fix the short.

I had the same problem, can't remember which wire it was, but due to a short the truck wouldn't start. It ended up being the wire to the dome light.

On yours, it could be one of several different components.
