Nate, First Welcome to the forum ... that said, these are mechanical trucks not comp controlled, if you want more HP you have to turn wrenches to accomplish this, they are not plug and play ....that's the reason first gen owners love their trucks. Go to the sticky's at the top of the page and read, read, read.
Almost any question you have about these trucks is covered there or do a search in the first gen section .. for instance type brakes there will be several pages come up. Hope this helps ... oh ya if you decide to turn up your pump the first thing you need to do is install gauges ...pyro is mandatory and boost and fuel pressure is highly recommended.

There is no ECM in a '90 cummins truck to tune.
You can't tune something up that doesn't exist.
Like nonrev said, time to do some reading up on 1st gens. This site is a great place to get that reading in.

I also like the tuner that is called the "10MM", used along side of the tuner you pictured.
When "stacked" together they seem to really get the fuel delivery rate up.

I hear this "10mm" tune is easily lost so extras should be purchased.

Fortunately they are universally marketed in a wide range of price and quality at a variety of suppliers from Harbor freight to SnapOn......Ben

True. I have learned that some engines are actually black holes for tools. My wife’s ‘96 Camry Wagon sucked up a Craftsman 10mm combo wrench in 2015. My Jeep KJ absorbed a Craftsman 13mm socket last winter. I’d rather offer up cheapos but I don’t have any. Even though I’m not OCD this causes me great duress because I like my collections to match and then have to search for matching replacements.

Fortunately with our old trucks, most tools trickle down and eventually hit the ground due to the open engine bays. That’s great if you’re on concrete or maybe even gravel but not in a field. I’ve also discovered that some species of grass/weeds can actually dissolve metal and rather quickly too. Some tools are immune but many bolts, nuts and washers are not, especially lock washers.
