Dyno Results

I put my truck on the dyno today. It was a dynojet dyno, I got 270.28hp/475.48ft-lbs, then with the water meth on; 312.85hp/535.65ft-lbs. I was not very pleased with the results but I guess it's not that bad for a no load dyno and a stock 3 speed tranny

i've heard the auto steals at least 40hp. don't know if it's true or not. tq does seem a little on the low side though. when i did 260hp, i had 690tq.

Sounds about right for no intercooler.

its only been bumped up an 1/8" from stock, but the non-intercooled trucks come from the factory with quite a bit more timing than the intercooled ones. Id say that its got about another 1/8" to go until it hits the head, and thats where its going to end up

Yeah, those numbers seem kinda low to me, too. Your truck is set up even more aggressive than mine.

Have you gone to the piston LP yet? The stock LP might be your bottleneck.

I plugged your dragstrip results into an HP calculator and here's what came up:

From trap speed: 363 RWHP/429 flywheel HP
From E.T.: 394 RWHP/465 flywheel HP

Somewhere around 380-390 HP wouldn't surprise me at all.

edit: For grins I ran my truck through a RWHP to 1/4 mile calc. If I could shift it fast enough I should be able to lay down a 14.8 @ a blistering 92 MPH. It might be slow, but it sure is smoky.

Those numbers may be a tad low, but I dont think you are anywhere close 380-390 with the mods you have listed. You probably have enough fuel for 380, but you dont got the air.
Here's some food for thought.... Go over and ask KTA how much more fuel he added when he went from dynoing in the 280 range to the 480 range.
Dont get me wrong, your truck has turned some real good times for a first gen and I wouldnt care how much or little HP I had if I ran that fast...makes me want to put an auto in my truck.

Auto and 5k lbs is how you got those times. What weight did you plug in the calculator Dave? Need to cool that air. No where near 380hp.

Hey rockjeep, it kinda sounds like most of your missing horsepower is in your tranny...that thing sounded ticked off when it shifted!

4800 pounds, like the man said in the "World's quickest 1st gen?" thread.

Look at his sig and my sig. You're trying to tell me that he couldn't possibly be making 10 HP more than me? I wouldn't be surprised if he's making 20 HP more.
