Dual Funcational Hood scoops

I just bought some hood scoops. I was thinking of having the Passengers side scoop go into the air box. The drivers side I was going to have ducted to allow the air to flow over the turbo.

Has any one done this? Does any one have any thoughts on this idea? More ideas the better, before I start putting big holes in the hood.

I don't think there much more to go over or explain about it. I don't know how much it will really help cool the turbo by running the air into it but im sure it would help some. Make sure you post pics

I think it's an AWESOME Idea! Only because I already thought of it, hehe

What I thought about doing was actually making an airbox out of fiberglass without a top on it. Make it tall enough so when the hood was shut it would seal around the scoop on the hood. Now yeah I know, 'glass and steel pressed tightly together ain't gonna seal. Just leave the 'box' 1/2 inch shy of the hood and get some sort of weatherstripping to actually seal it.

Of course the ULTIMATE would be for someone to make a FUNCTIONAL "Shaker" hood! Just like the old E-bodys used to have!
A shaker on a cummins, now that'd be a match made in Heaven!

Kellypckp, you got any pics or a link to these scoops you bought?

Anyway that you can get hot air out from under the hood is GOOD. I thought of doing the same thing myself but haven't got around to it yet. Let us know if it works.

With those hoods from USBody being fiberglass I was wondering how long they would actually last on our trucks? You get a good shutdown shake and where would you be?

"Stylin' Concepts" makes a shaker assembly. Would have to be modified though, but then again, most people like that stuff anyway!

If the fibreglass is strengthened correctly and weather stripping is used to cushion it while it is down, shutdown shake shouldn't bother it at all

For a hood scoop you would have to come up with some kind of door setup for foul weather. Some of the old factory muscle cars had pulls (like a manual choke) to shut off the cold air and switch to underhood air to keep the rain out. A soggy air filter wouldn't be too much fun.

A setup were you could direct cold air down into a box with drainage and then pull air from the top would prolly work. If it had a good amount of volume and a baffle down say 3/4 of the way down the center/top. I guess you could use the existing airbox location as a transfer box.

To improve cooling I thought it would be cool to have vents on the fenders like on the buick GNX cars. That would route some of the hot air out the side. side louver example

I bought the scoops off ebay. But year one sells them and I am sure a few other places to.

They are aftermarket scoops are for a A-Body with the bezel molded in. Like my Demon.
