Has anyone used a stock 2nd gen drive shaft in a 1st gen. The reason I ask is I found a 2nd gen shaft for $20 at a u-pull it yard. I did some research and found that they use the same universal joints and the 1st gen wheel base is 131" and the 2nd gen is 134.7. Do you think it will work. I do plan on using my yoke for the front side of the shaft and all new universals.

YES, they are the same U-joints.

I do not know if the splines of one will fit the other.

Carrier-bearing placement will also be a consideration.

The yokes alone are well worth the twenty-bucks.
