Double checked tach calibration.

I spray painted my HB flat black and re-attached the reflective strips. I used tie-wraps this time to adjust the throttle for high rpm. It happened to level out at 3600.

When I crawled under the front end to get the tach about an inch from the HB it read 3600 on the dot. My tach also read exactly 3600.

On the highway again today I reved it out in 4th and 5th. This time I paid attention to both the boost and tach. When I floored it the boost went to 26 and then when the rpms got up to about 2500 the boost started to back off.

This makes me think the govenor spring is stock since I've read elsewhere on this forum that the stock spring begins to defuel at about 2400.

I do think the other screws and possibly the tapered eccentric spring, starwheel have been tampered with. I'm still debating whether to mess with the pump or just leave it be until I actually start towing something and then decide if I am disciplined enough to watch the temps.

I'm also back to wanting the 3200 GSK.

Yep, sounds like a stock gov. spring.

I had no idea they would spin all the way to 4k with no load - but then I never tried it, either. Highest I've run mine is 3500.

The stuff inside the AFC is pretty safe to play with, and you can balance your smoke/spool-up situation with that.

Thanks guys! In my electronics and computer troubleshooting experience I learned that if you have good and accurate information it's a lot easier to make good decisions.
