I have a second return spring on my IP pump attaching to the AT cable(?). I've not seen one of these in any pics. Does it belong here or was it orphaned from somewhere else during some engine work last year?

 

I've never payed too much attention to the automatic linkage set-ups, since mine is a manual, but I would suspect that there is suppose to be some forward tension on the kick down cable, all 727 and I believe 518 as well, need throttle pressure or the tranny will burn up in short order.

But that doesn't look like a proper set-up to me?

 

A spring belongs there but I dont think its the correct one or its been shortened.
