.No abs system in the world would have helped if they were not paying attention. People drive too fast for the existing road conditions, while putting on make-up or talking on a cell phone, instead of DRIVING their car. I guess that I am sorry for it, but most people in accidents, whether deemed their fault or not, could have avoided the accident if they had been paying attention. That opinion was formed by 26 years of scraping people off the asphalt. That said, there should be NO WAY that a supposed "safety system" should EVER allow the brakes to fail, lack of maintenance or no. The engineers that designed this system should be ashamed of themselves, but more likely they are enjoying their retirement in Barbados...Off soap box...Mark[/QUOTE]

I get ANGRY at the new Mercedes commercials! "I dont have to pay attention, my Mercedes does it for me!"

That said, I tried to teach her how to never get into a "panic stop". I know that there is always some idiot pulling out in front of you, however, 99% of the time, it can be anticipated. She does drive different now!
A little training and practice goes a long way...Mark

What I started doing is drive my cars and truck the way I drive my Bike, I just assume that nobody sees me and I act accordingly. There is no way to avoid that idiot that times it perfectly as he or she pulls out in front of you, but it will save your hiney many more times than not...Mark

Naw, their allright because the extremely fine print at the bottom of the ad says that you should continue to drive the car, in spite of the safety systems, and we ALL know that everyone reads and obeys the fine print, that is if you tevo it in HD so the you can read it......Mark

we should just not be allowed to drive anymore, it should all be automated on rails or tracks of sorts... that way everybody has the same blan "car" and u just hop in and it takes u where u need to go. I would just need bigger tires to be able to drive my truck over these newfangled tracks :-P

Maybe they should issue all of us a mid-eighties Chrysler K car, it would be perfect, you don't have to worry about stopping, because the don't go anyway and besides that, they were so #$%@#&^%%$$ ugly, you don't want to drive them anyway. It is a perfect solution...Mark

I think my brakes work really well. They are hard and don't have to pump them. They also stop me fairly quickly.

When i got my truck i had to replace the rear drums and shoes to pass safety, it has always had great brakes and stopped well. I don't really know how it was before the rear brake replacement though.

I haven't got any complaints about my brakes, just keep them adjusted and no issues.

can someone explain this a bit. I have decent brakes and then suddenly nothing. Scary and random.
Reading this thread- it would seem that possibly the Dump valve(What the heck is that thing) and how do ppl disconnect the computer for ABS???

I'd deal with consistent braking effort, even if it's not perfect. Definitely way behind my MB with huge brembo 6 piston brakes.

AHHHH, so you know what the feeling of impending doom feels like!!! I feel your pain, it is the dump valve, IMHO, but what actually causes it is the 24000 dollar question...Mark

If you are superstitious, I would knock on wood or something, you are very lucky and it isn't just the rear adjustment...Mark
