Dodge and Cummins

So, this guy just told me that dodge is going to switch to a CAT engine. Obviously I don't believe him but have not heard of this happening. Has anyone heard of Dodge going to a CAT engine?

Considering Cat is getting out of the OTR market, it really wouldn't make much sense............ Let me guess, he said Furd owns Cummins as well?

Cat engine in a Dodge truck? Can't see it happening.

As for Cat getting out of the OTR market ... they just released a new OTR truck themselves. See it here - http://www.cat.com/on-highway-transportation

That's exactly what I asked him! he probably thinks they do own cummins, just like most everyone else. He didn't respond to it but I think he does. But WHY does everyone seem to think that ford owns Cummins? where are they getting their information from?

CAT couldn't take it...lol....they sold the blueprints of the C-15 to international...and they were getting out. But then they built their own CAT vocational line of trucks with a new cat engine....they even put a cat automatic transmission in it, as an option.

At one point in about 1992 Ford owned about 10% of Cummins stock. It was never enough to be able to influence Cummins in any way, and Ford had sold it off by 1995.

Yea, they conveniently leave out the fact that it is a Navistar...... Engine and all.

But if I was Cat, I would have done the same.

Ford does not claim to own Cummins. It is uninformed idiots that make that claim. I’d be willing to bet that somewhere in Fords investment portfolio they still have a few shares of Cummins. I’m sure somewhere in my mutual funds I own some Cummins stock.

Ok, I was talking to a guy a couple years ago from a ford dealer and he was advertising the new ford mustang and we started talking diesel and he said ford owned cummins (51%) and that in 2012 ford was going to put Cummins in their pick ups and dodge was going to go to mercedez or something. I called bull but that guy "knew what he was talking about".
