Do you have a truck cover for your first gen?

I've been looking around for a winter beater car to drive around to save wear and tear on my truck.

If I do happen to get one, I want to get a good cover for my truck to keep it out of the elements (no garage).

Anybody know of any good ones? and post pics of your covered up truck if you have any.

Thanks.

I think a cover just holds in moisture and also scuffs the paint when the wind blows.

hmmmm... what would you do to preserve it then?

I guess some kind of covers over the tires like RV people like to do? Also something in the windshield to keep sun out?

Just put a sheet over stuff inside. Covering the tires is good also.

I have a California car cover for my truck. It looks like an elephant with them big ol' mirrors! It's a PAIN to put on and take off, and then it has to be stored when it's off. Would not buy another one.

I found some decent ones from empire. This cover was a replacement cover for a custom cover that cost three times as much and started leaking water and collecting dust under the cover in less than a year. My Empire cover is 4 months old, has survived numerous strong thunderstorms and seering Texas sun, and so far is exceeding my expectations. I have 3 cars under cover, soon the other two will be covered by Empire.

I'm not an expert but I think most car covers are really meant to just keep crap off the car when it's already indoors, or in a semi-indoors place like a shed.

The Rolls-Royce of car covers: http://www.carcapsule.com
It's inflated with a little fan, so it doesn't touch the truck.
Way too expensive for me, but pretty neat anyway...

I have seen a couple covers ruin the paint on a pair of classic Caddys, the old guy thought he was protecting them, 16 hours ($650) of color sanding and buffing later, per car, they did look good again.

Detail your truck like it is a show car, wash it very well, put on a fresh coat of wax, clean the interior and use a good protectant/ cleaner, same for your tires, wipers and any external plastic, door seals, etc... Remove the battery or get a battery maintainer if your just going to park it.

Covers only help protect your extra cars from the neighborhood ordinance fascists.
