I'm just wondering if they make higher gears for our trucks like 2.73's or somethink close. I doubt I will ever tow heavier than 9K. Most likely no more than 6-7K. I would like it to be better at highway cruising speeds and get better milage.

Nope. Actually a 3.07 is getting harder to find for a D70 rear. Mainly its the 3.54, 3.73, 4.10, 4.56, 4.88's and deeper that is being made in decent quantities

 

I would check at a local drivetrain company, I got gears that came from Yukon gear and axle. they wernt 2.73s though

 

HMM, I found a Yukon web site and they only have 3,54-5.88s

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 3.07's use a different housing in the dana 60 and 70 to fit the gears in there correctly.

 

I have recently found new 2.73 gear sets but I can't find the link to them. Think my computer did a hickup when I shut it down. The housing used was the Dana 61 series that uses an offset pinion to compensate the larger pinion gear.
