dieselcare injection pump
dieselcare injection pump
My truck quit starting the other day so after a diagnosing session of making sure I had fuel pressure, no air in lines, and removing my shut off plunger (which had metal all over it) I figure it has to be the injection pump. Any other ideas??
Has anyone bought one from dieselcare on ebay? Also, what mods would be a good idea to have done to the pump right away, like 3200 spring...???

If there's any warranty you would void it by opening the pump. I would at least make sure the truck ran right before messing with the pump. If you mess with it before you install it you don't have a leg to stand on if the pump is bad.
I bought my IP from the and it works fine now but i did have some problems at first. If this is your first time to to this operation here are some words of advice make sure (triple chech if need be) the the key is ingauged in the key way because it will go in without this I done it. Also lable your wires and before you reconnect them check the termination to the connector this i didnt do and I commenced in alot of needless troubleshooting before I found the problem. I believe the pump came with a 90 Day warranty so I am not going to do any mods till after that. Good luck on the pump swap. their is alot of good knowledge and alot of good people here to help atleast they did for me
I haven't bought a pump yet, they said they could do any mods I wanted before they send it. So, I don't know exactly what mods I want?? That's what I'm trying to ask.
Also, I was asking if my described problems/and troubleshooting narrowed it down to the pump needing replacement?
Thanks for your help!!!

that out to get there attention!
I ended up buying one of their pumps for my 92 w250. I also replaced the lift pump and blew all the lines out. Bleed the filter/pump/injectors, everything went normal. Try to start, and it just fires occasionally, but will not start!!
I did the kdp while doing the pump, and am certain the key is in the keyway and the gears are timed correctly. I rebled everything about 8 times now with the same results. Seems like I get a decent amount of fuel spray out of the injector lines, but still will not start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's a tough one, if you are getting fuel to the injectors and it is timed right then it should start. The only other thing is the failed pump may have clogged the injectors. Try pulling one injector and see if you get a spray pattern. BE CAREFUL
though because the spray is very high pressure and can hurt you. Let it spray onto a piece of cardboard to see the pattern. If a diesel has compression, fuel and air it will run if in time.

Ok, then it has to be one of two things, either it is not in time or they did something wrong on the rebuild. I would call them and tell them what you have did and ask for advice. We will see how good their customer service is anyway. I think I would still check the spray patern to see if you are actually getting pressure or just flow to the injectors. I can't think of any other engine problem that would cause it not to start. By the way how are you bleeding the injectors?
If you are getting a good flow of fuel then I would bet on timing. Could have been a mistake in the pump though. There is one shaft in the pump that can be put in 180 degrees out of time and it wouldn't start but I would think they wouldn't do that.
In a desperate attempt to check timing, I have my timing cover partly loose so I am able to peek behind it.
first question, I replaced the main seal, if I pull the cover all the way off, will that seal be ruined? I would reuse that plastic installation tool to reinstall it.
2nd question, what marks should be lining up on the inj pump gear and the cam gear?
Thanks guys
