Diesel Manual Transmission Flywheel Differences between 1st Gen & 2nd Gen??

I am looking for information on the interchangability between a first generation and second generation flywheel, pressure plate, and clutch disc as a unit assembly. I currently have a first generation engine with a second gen bellhousing and second gen bellhousing adapter. I believe the pressure plate mounting bolts went from 5/16" on the first gen to 3/8" on the second gen. Are there anyother differences such as flywheel thickness, diameter, or the location of the starter ring gear? In other words will a first gen assembly work properly in a second gen bellhousing? Thanks.
