Not for a while yet, and not until all the info is relocated to the DTR Wiki. Same info, different spot.

I think you guys are getting afraid we are going to loose all of out information,

We are not; it is just going to be accessed a bit differently than you are used to.

I ask Jack about maybe a link on the top of the page in each forum where the Sticky is located now but as he stated it is there already, If you look at the top information bar under where it has Diesel Truck Resource.com between Members Photos and Links you will see Articles, if you click on this it will redirect you to the Technical Page of the Wiki, down near the bottom are the articles for the 1st. Gen although there are only 11 articles at this point once they are all moved they should all be there.

When there are more of them I hope they will have them organized by Category like they are now but now you can see all of them on one page.

You could Cut and Paste this link to your Desktop and it will take you directly to the 1st. Gen section.

I don't mean to come off as ignorant and unlearned and old timey, but I honestly can't see how this WIKI business can be as good for us as the sticky that we currently have.

We only have the one line at the top of the page and it is simple to navigate.

I took a look in that WIKI and couldn't make heads or tails of it.

It seems way too complicated for what it is meant for.

It would be grate to have a direct link to our page...............maybe keeping the sticky just as it is (in appearance) but link up directly to our sticky section in the wiki..................Even if we have to get to our sticky thru the route you just gave above.....it would be that bad.
Al tho it would be better for you to make them suggestion, as I'm not go at this.....as you seen

The link I gave you is what is already there; you just have to click on the Articles tab for it to take you there.

As far as the looks of it, remember this is just the beginning stages and there are only 11 articles there for us at this time but I assume once they are all transferred over they would have to have some way of organizing them.

They really couldn't just leave them a big collection without some way to search them.

How did you get to the Wiki? Did you click on the Articles tab; it should have redirected you to the Wiki in the Tech Articles page. Scroll down to the bottom and all of the 1st. Gen articles are there.

I think what is confusing you is that since there are only a few of them there is no organization but once they are all over here there will need to be some way to catalog them This is kind of what Dave has done with out Sticky.

Hey I am not a technical minded person but I think it is going to be all right, it is just going to take awhile to learn how to use it but the biggest problem is for everyone to first learn how to accept it.

Eventually it will be all right, it is going to be like the nice old trucks with the metal dashboard, now it is gone and we have something better, a nice padded cracked dashboard, maybe that wasn’t the best comparison but what I mean is It is not our site, it is Jacks and we are all visitors, he is the auto manufacture the Wiki = the padded dashboard this is the new technology and he wants to have it in his truck.

He hasn’t made the wrong decision or messed up this fine site yet, at least he is letting us discuss it as it is being phased out and we just don’t wake up one day and it is gone.

Maybe we could have our kids teach us how to use it.

How hard was it for you when they dropped the speed limit down from 70 to 55?

BTW I really am a technically minded person, I even dream technicals.

Jim

Dave, I think the only real fear is that they are gonna reorganize the articles, and the way you have it laid out in the stickey is what we all are used to adn like...

Would ya mind talking to Jack and explain how you organized it?? maybe they can keep it the same way......

You obviously didn't pay attention to a single word I said both in terms of the Wiki and why it's beneficial and also of this thread.

We only have the one line at the top of the page and it is simple to navigate.
...and it's all mixed up without heads or tails of what is supposed to go where.

I took a look in that WIKI and couldn't make heads or tails of it.
I bet when you first came to this forum, you couldn't make heads or tails of it either. It's simple. Find the category, find an article and click it.

It seems way too complicated for what it is meant for.
???

Ok, let me say this one more time. THIS THREAD will never go away. I don't delete threads unless they break the forum rules. If you like this thread better than the wiki, then use it to find your information. If you don't, then use the wiki. Once the search engines pick up on the wiki, most people will be using it vs. the forum for actual articles minus discussion.

AGAIN....THIS THREAD IS NOT GOING AWAY. IT WILL NEVER GO AWAY AND IT WILL ALWAYS STAY. I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN BE ANY MORE CLEAR THAN THIS.

It won't be organized in the same fashion because the information in this thread is not organized at all. It's put together like any normal thread would be, which is understandable. When you don't have tools to organize things, then this is how things end up. It's easy for you to find because you've been doing it this way for a long time. No problem there either.

However, the future of this site is not going to be just a hodge podge of information that can't be easily indexed or searched. It WILL be organized, and it WILL be easy to find. Not a single person here has even given it a chance, and there is a bunch of complaining going on without any kind of 1st gen information being transferred over yet.

I've never seen such a panic over such a non-issue in my life. I've made it clear about 5 times that this thread is not going to be deleted.

Truth hurts. Sorry man, but you went off the handle before even TRYING to understand what was going on. That is not MY FAULT, yet you are angry at me and don't understand my frustration? Am I supposed to react by being all nice and with a smile? Not gonna happen.

I'll take all of the suggestions into consideration. It would most likely be a link right on top of the first gen forum vs a sticky but either way, the information will be there.

This thread is not our 'STICKY".

Our STICKY is very well organized.

Have you looked in it ??

I think those who have organized and set up our sticky should be commended on a job well done.

Also, many of the articles in our sticky are also live threads that we can add new information to as it comes available, without having to do anything other than post it, and anyone can ask a question about the information and the answers benefit others in the future.

Are we going to be able to add to things in the WIKI by simply posting the information like we currently are able to do ??
