How do I determine what the original color scheme of my truck was when it left the factory? I cannot locate the data plate; would decoding the VIN assist in this.

 

Is the data plate under the hood on gone or worn away? I think maybe if you would call the dodge dealership with you VIN number they could help you out.

 

There is a stamped plate of tin under the cowl vent grate on the passenger side riveted to the cab with 4 rosettes. It has all the codes including primary and secondary paints(if applicable). A dealer or usually a paint supply store will be able to decode this for you. It will be a little bigger than a business card and have a ton of numerical/alphabetical codes stamped into it.

 

Thanks guys..................now I have to take it in and decode. My manual does not decode paint schemes.
