Dash lights
Ok guys heres the deal the other morning it was raining hard and the dash lights went out for 2-3 min. then came back on and repeat. Tonight they went off once and no repeat no rain tonight. Its just the dash lights the clearance and headlights work fine. Just the lights in the cluster. Any ideas?

Two items to check
Fuse number 2 or 3 (can't remember which) I pulled out one that looked good and put in another - dash lights worked
Second the light is controlled by the headlight switch - rotate it all the way to the right
Cheers

Check for a leak (windshield/cowl crack) that is dripping on the Headlamp switch. (mine was the windshield) the harness is on top of the switch and collects the water shorting the switch. Usually a green corrosion on the terminals is a great clue! As usual, this is from experience!

Still have this problem guys, even after the rain. I know its not the fuse bc it goes off then back on intermittely. Tried wiggling the headlight switch but doesnt seem to work. Ideas?
Dean,
Sounds like a bad headlamp switch... as most, if not all, of these trucks develop over time. Pull the switch, and clean the connections in the plug with a de-oxidizer, and put it back together. If I were doing this myself, I'd just buy a new switch and put it in after I cleaned the plug.

I figured out that 20 years of bad air around the fuse panel causes poor connections in the box. Cleaning those out with De-oxit and spraying with the De-oxit protective spray has eliminated all of those issues.

Just had this happen on my 90 this last weekend. THe switch was acting funny, If you would wiggle it they'd stay on then all of a sudden the didn't want to work at all.
Put a new switch in and all is well again.
