Is dana 70 from an 89 same as a 93 W250
Is dana 70 from an 89 same as a 93 W250
My 93 club cab W250 2wd read diff dana 70 just went out on me for lack of lube.
At this point a buddy of mine has differential from an 89 3/4 ton. He's not so sure about the gears but I know that I got 3.50 on the dana 70, it says on the hood sticker.
My questions are the followings:
does it fit under my 93 as a bolt on?
do I need to relocate springs?
I am new to this dodge thing, so any help will be appreciated.
Another friend of mind found me a 93 dually, which I have not check yet.
same question as above plus do they run an 8 bolt pattern or 10 bolt?
any help will be appreciated.

^ its a D70 if it a 3.54 or higher rear. If its a 3.07 its a Dana 71. You didnt state what ratio the 89 rear ratio is! If it was a auto truck it came with a 3.07 ratio D71. I would assume your 93 D250 (not a W250) came with 3.54 as you stated. The 89 rear housing is different than your D70. You cant simply swap gears. I am pretty sure! The entire rears will swap from one truck to the other no problem. The true question is do you pull with your truck? Anyone ever had a 3.07 rear with a 4spd auto? To much gear?
The first three gears are the same ratios in a 727 and a 518, so at equal power they will pull the same. OD could be locked out if EGT's get too high. 3.07's and light towing shouldn't be a problem if you have gauges.

:I don't know what kind of tranny, neither gears on the 89 diff. I 'll have to assume is stick tranny. ...and I believed my friend said it had 4.10
:I got a few questions on this statement.
it's my understanding that d70 and d71are different
...That the gears from the 89 won't fit on my D70. Am I correct?
It's my understanding that the whole differential(89) will be a bolt on under my truck as an entire unit.
Am I correct?
Yes indeed, A gooseneck trailer w/ a 79 Land Cruiser about 5000 Lbs.
