D250 Axle question

I just had new tires installed, on the factory steel wheels. It had a pull to the right, that seems to have gone away...interesting.

Anyway, I have heard that all Dodge first gen diesels have a 4000 lb front axle.

I checked the sticker in the door jamb, and it shows the front to be a 3830 lb. and the rear to be a 5450 lb.

Can anyone tell me why, if the front is a 4000 lb, why label it as less? It gets confusing when ordering parts.

Thanks!

Officially the D250/D350 trucks have a 3800lb front end, as per the manufacturing decal. Why it's refereed to as a 4000lb in the aftermarket I don't know.
