Custom springs

Currently I have the the 8" springs up front with a 5" spring + 3" block in rear. This needs to change .. my front drive line splines are barely hanging on when I articulate so I'm having it extended. Before I write the check to the local 4x4 shop I figured why not get some new springs and really sky this thing out. I'd really like to run 44's so I need some more height, I've contacted a few custom spring shops looking to have some 12" springs .. has anyone done this before on our trucks? If so .. where did you get the springs made?

Well, I had 9" springs custom made for me and did a 2.5 shackle drop in the front to give me 13" of lift total.. IN the rear, I would also do a shackle drop if I were you, I think the biggest spring they make for the rear is 8", but it only gives you 6"... trust me I've done it... Make shackles like this and you'll be ahead of the game..

I was really hoping I could get all the the lift purely from the springs themselves, I've grown tired of blocks / shackles / and randomness under my truck .. now the ones on your truck look great .. but anything I'd fab up in my basement would look more like a crushed teakettle once it found itself under the weight of my engine

Why not do a 8 inch spring sky jacker makes a Nice set then do a 3 in body lift and then custom cut the front and rear edges of the front fender's .I did that on my crewcab and it turned out sweet and no I never had any troubles with the body lift we even rolled the truck and all that happened was it bent a couple bed bolt's Nothing Broke .Also while you are at it do a crossover steering set/up and you will love the truck even more Mine could turn on a dime and give you back change .plus after all this we ended up running a 325-85R-16 michellin close to a 39 1/2 in tall tire rode nice and drove even better .

Ya, the cutout fender flares give you quite A BIT OF extra room.. X2 on the cross over... Exspecially going that big.. I also would do the body lift.. Dodges can get away with it pretty easily.. But, one thing that might give you hassle is the front driveshaft angle... Your probably looking at a double c/v setup to do it right... Just my 02.. Don't be afraid to ask a few questions, I've done lots of lifts on these first gens..

wow it seems like with that much height, esp with a club cab, a divorced xfer case set up would be in order just to provide more length, less angle for the front driveshaft.

Yeah I just talked to Alcan today .. 12" springs will run me around $480 a pair ( $390 for 10" ) which is very reasonable in my book.

I have body lifts on two other 2nd gen dodges of mine and just really didn't want to go that route on this one although I understand completely why it was suggested. As for chopping the fenders I've already done that in order to stuff the 39.5x18 boggers on 16.5x14's under my truck without rubbing on articulation .. as they are wider then my aunt Bertha
