Cummins Powered Ramcharger Swap
Ceejmo. glad to see you made some good progress today. We've had like 3 or more inches of rain in the last 2 days here in Phoenix. Cut the Cummins emblems off of the truck badges and stick them on, I think that would look good.
The engine mounts are a bolt in swap from the donor or the auto parts store. The mounts for the Cummins are larger but they will still bout in. The mounts for the RC were about 2 inches by 4 inches of rubber pad sandwiched between two steel plates and is about 1-1/4 inch thick. The mounts for the Cummins are made the same but are about 3 inches by 4 inches. They each have one stud and a dimple up and one stud and dimple down.
I started off this morning with intentions of lifting the cab and installing the engine and transmission as a unit. However I discovered that in order to remove the cab mounting bolts I had to remove the seats and then remove the carpet and the cab mounting access plugs in order to get to the bolts. My D-250 bolted upwards to the cab but the Ramcharger bolts downward through the cab with a nut underneath. So, my son said "It's not that hard to take the transmission off and install it after the engine is in, Is it?" I had to agree with him. We separated the engine and transmission and installed them one at a time.
The Cummins fits in the Ramcharger just about the same as it did in the D-25.

Just another thought on the frame thing...Dodge didn't beef up the frames untill late 91, I think. The frame on my truck is identical to my 86 w150 parts truck...I don't think you'll have any problems

Cool, that makes it easy. I may be looking for a cummins donor soon...
The plan for my w250 is when the body finishes rusting itself out, I'm going to swap a ramcharger body on, but instead of shortening the frame, I'm going to section the body. Somwhere between the door and the side windows. I have even been wondering if we could make it part front clubcab/ rear half of ramcharger so we could have a four door ramcharger. And yes, I realize I will have to lengthen the back too.
I got the clip set in place and connected most of the wiring.
Then it started raining.
It's not going to get finished today. But that's O.K. I made alot of progress this weekend. I only need a few more hours including cutting and welding the drive shaft to fit and it will be done.

The original reason for buying my Ramcharger was to swap the body shell onto my CTD ext cab frame, add 4' into the frame and run the full 8' bed. It's still a possibility as I need more room when traveling (4 adults, 1 kid w/car seat, and a 90 lbs dog don't fit real well in an Ext cab), but still need to be able to pull the 5th wheel.
Biggest mod's would be eliminating the wheelwells/reskinning the quarters, splitting the rear hatch so the top still opened for cargo loading, eliminating the tailight mounts, and the frame strech itself.
