Cummins Crew Cab Resto Mod Build
Looking good CETX keep up with the pics and updates!
I got all my seals from the Dodgeconnection.com. The only seals I wasn't able to get were the front two vent window seals and the rear fixed glass in the rear doors.
New Direction
Well since the truck has been doing a lot of sitting lately I have given it a lot of thought on how or what I want out of the finished product. In the begining this was going to be my primary tow rig and driven on the road mostly. But after buying my 2012 Ram 3500 dually I just don't see it being my first go to as a tow rig or daily driver. The 3500 Ram is just so nice and I can't see the 85 being that comfortable and quiet.
So I'm going to finishing building the 85 crew cab as I expeditiion/dual purpose rig. I want to take it to places like Moab, CO moutains, etc.
It will still be getting the cummins, but will just run a larger single turbo instead of compounds. Still want 400-500 rwhp out of it with TQ around 800-900 ft/lbs. It will be getting a full interior roll cage, the tube dash I drew up a few pages back, double street legal beadlocks, front ARB to match the rear ARB and custom tube bumpers front and rear both with winches. Also want either a canvas top or hard camper shell to sleep in if I do wind up taking it on long offroad trails, maybe something like the Rubicon.
I bought a couple of things today for it to help get the truck pointed in the new direction.
Klune 4.1 reduction box.

Tubing bender for the cage/dash/bumpers.

Still need a welder so it will be a little while before I can get started on the cage.

Hey so when you installed All the new seals and windows in your rear doors do you remember what you put in first? Small window, track, regular, window. Or did you do it different? I dont remember how I tore it apart....

I haven't torn my rear doors that far apart. But I would link the fixed glass and it's track would have to go in first. Maybe the track first...then the fixed glass and it's seal?
