i was discussing this with a friend of mine today. how does the cruise control work on our trucks especially with the pump being all mechanical? is there some sort of solenoid on the governor in the pump???

i met a guy this weekend with a 93 with the getrag...and his cruise control worked....wish mine did lol

any and all explanations welcome! thanks

What are you not understanding, how it knows the speed, how it controls speed or something else?

Look at the injection pump, there will be a throttle cable, and another cable that runs back to a vaccume diaphram mounted by the master cylinder. Thats how it moves the throttle. I hope thats the answer you are looking for. In all of my cruize truck the clock spring has been the problem, but thats my luck. Maybe yours will be to?

you have an FSM? goes along ways to show you everything you need to know about the wiring side of it. More than likely its switch, clockspring or even vacuum leak related.
