OK so I saw the sticky on repairing a cracked cowl with the no longer available kit

I searched this forum and saw folks saying things like drill stop the crack then weld thicker metal over the area one guy was even talking about gas welding it using bailing wire.

So those of you who have repaired a cracked cowl i'd LOVE to hear what materials and methods you chose and how they are holding up for you.

Would especially love to hear from folks that have put some serious miles on them after the repair.
