correct part#for rear main seal

looked threw the forums over an over? i will be using the cummins seal. everyone is just throwing around part# like crazy dont know which is right.........

As long as you get your parts from a Cummins distributor, you can have an old superceded many times over part number, and it will supercede or get you to the most current part number you're looking for. The one I have wrote down in my notes is Cummins rear main seal 4089342. I just bought a rear main seal recently and if I remember right, that number is old, and got superceded. But like I said, it will get you pointed in the right direction.

If you go to a Cummins dealer, get the engine number off the data plate. They punch it into the computer, and know every part and setting that it left the factory with.
