Coolant Filter

Just wondering...anybody running a coolant filter? Is it beneficial? Thoughts? Rants? Changed my thermostat over the weekend and just thought it might be cool to have one to keep the crud out of the system better. BTW, I love Cummins! What a sweet design on the housing and o-ring for a fast replacement.

coolant filters

They really aren't filters per se,the "filter" contains a coolant conditioner that gradually dissolves and is introduced into the coolant. It will tend to keep your cooling system cleaner by reducing rust and scale buildup caused by hard water, corrosives in the coolant, and antifreeze breakdown. The kits aren't that expensive, and will help. They were originally designed for wet sleeve engines as a way to combate cavitation and corrosion pitting of the liners.

see above, perfect...If you were running an 8.3l, then yes but more than likely one is already installed. If you do regular coolant changes, you dont need a Coolant Filter Asy.
