Converting a W250 to a W350 DRW
Converting a W250 to a W350 DRW
I am looking for info on converting the 93 to a dually to house the flat bed off of the 97. Son finally talked me out of her. Now he wants the dually bed back on the 97 sooooo I am going to make the 93 my flatbed farm truck. I know I'll need the spacers for the front but what will the rear axle need to house the dual wheels?
you'll need the longer/bigger lug studs for the drw. with a flat bed, you should be able to get away with the stock srw axle. a former buddy (parts thief) of mine bought a flatbed truck that was a 250 with duals, and the stock srw wheels on the front. its the inside of the wheel well that prevents the duals from fitting with a stock bed.

on mine i put a 2" spacer, LONGER 9/16" studs, and the duals fit on the rear. the flatbed had to be widened to 96" to cover the weels & pass PA inspection.
only thing to remember. you can beef up springs, add wheels, you can make it act like a 350, and work like a 350, but get pulled over & weighed...
legally you're still just an overweight 250.
my heavy work is all on property, off road, in the field.
good luck

I have a C&C rear under my truck with the box still on. I had to hack out the already rotted inner wheel wells. The C&C rears are wider than just a SRW axle, not by much (a couple inches, maybe 3). You can do it if you run skinnies on it. 235/85's should do you good I would think
i have a dually rear, but no spacer in the front and still srw rims, it looks stupid but i bought it that way and im broke, so........ on the topic of being overweight, here in california, the home of regulation, since my truck has a flatbed, it is a commercial vehicle, meaning my 3/4 ton gvw means nothing. they go by the weight the tires can hold. i have a 26 sticker now for towing, meaning i can gross at 26,000, down the highway. i would never do that, but it is an example of government stupidity. no checking springs or overloads, airbags, exhaust brake, i don't need any of that, just put on dualls and a modified bed, 10 ply tires and walla, revenue for the socialist edit.i need to get back to alaska.sorry about the long post.
